Hon Gam Ghi

Hon Gam Ghi is a well-known snorkelling stop in the An Thoi archipelago because of its coral, but water clarity, current and boat traffic can change quickly from day to day. Check the actual sea conditions before entering the water.

How to visit

If snorkelling is your main reason for visiting Hon Gam Ghi, ask the captain or guide where you will enter, how much real water time you will have and what safety equipment is provided. Weak swimmers should wear a life jacket and stay close to the guide. On a day with poor visibility or strong current, changing the snorkelling site or activity is a better decision than entering the water simply to keep the printed itinerary.

Know before you go

Coral is living habitat, not a rock platform. Never stand on it for photographs or hold onto it when tired. Do not be disappointed if the water is not as clear or the fish as abundant as in promotional video; what you see depends on the natural conditions of that particular day.

Before you visit

  • Do not touch, break or stand on coral, and do not feed fish to gather them for photographs.
  • Wear a life jacket if you are not a confident swimmer and follow the safety briefing.
  • Do not enter the water when the captain or guide says conditions are unsuitable.
  • Ask how much actual snorkelling time is included, not only how many islands appear on the itinerary.
