Phu Quoc mangrove forest

In the estuaries and coastal alluvial areas of Phu Quoc, there are patches of green mangrove forests. Although it does not extend into a vast strip, each patch of forest still quietly keeps the soil against landslides and is the germ of life for fish, crabs and countless aquatic species.

Check current conditions

Exploring the mangrove forest, you should choose the routes allowed and follow the instructions if you participate in kayaking. Avoid walking down the mud flat or snuggling in the middle of the intertwined tree roots; the mud floor is both slippery and very vulnerable. Move gently, keep a quiet space and prepare appropriate clothes and shoes.

Things that are easy to miss

The mangrove forests of Ngoc Island are not everywhere with wooden walking bridges or large-scale tourism services. Many small patches of forest are extremely sensitive ecosystems, not suitable for overcrowded groups. Although the area may be more modest than the wide-angle image, their ecological role in the estuary is still extremely large.

When going out

  • Confirm in advance the access regulations and routes allowed to visit.
  • Absolutely do not step on the roots of trees, dig or break branches.
  • Do not leave garbage, leftovers or grease spilled into the water source.
  • When traveling by boat/kayak, always keep a safe speed and distance as directed.
