Freshwater sources on the island

The priceless source of fresh water on Phu Quoc island depends entirely on the watershed primeval forest, stream beds, reservoirs and annual natural rainfall. Standing in front of the vast ocean surrounding all four sides, we appreciate every drop of fresh water that nourishes the lives of residents and tourism on land.

Check current conditions

When visiting streams or walking in the forest, join hands to protect water resources by simple actions: do not litter, do not use soap, shampoo or detergent directly into the stream. When participating in outdoor activities, always bring enough safe drinking water from the accommodation. The dry season is also the time when each of us needs to be conscious of using water more economically on the island.

Things that are easy to miss

Phu Quoc has a rainy season that pours abundant water resources, but a lot of rain does not mean that the source of fresh water is always endless. The water source depends on the storage capacity of the forest carpet, the capacity of the irrigation lake and the development pace of the island. A shallow stream in the dry season or a full lake in the rainy season is just a small piece of the puzzle in the overall water resource problem of Pearl Island.

When going out

  • Bring your own water bottle and refill it with clean water from the hotel before each trip.
  • Absolutely do not wash, bathe with chemicals or throw garbage into the stream bed.
  • Strictly comply with regulations on forest fire prevention and water conservation.
  • Respect the water conservation recommendations at the hotel or resort.
