Phu Quoc bún quậy
Bun Quay is attracted by the hot bowl of vermicelli with fresh noodles, shrimp cakes, fish cakes and dipping cups that each person makes according to their own taste. Sitting at the same table, each person's dipping bowl may be different, and it is the self-tasting part that makes the unique experience of the dish.
Choosing and ordering food
Noodles should be eaten while the broth is still hot. First, make your own dipping bowl from the seasoning prepared by the restaurant, taste it, and then adjust it a little according to your taste; when you see that you have just dipped the patties or pour more into the bowl if you like. If you are allergic to seafood, be sure to ask the kitchen carefully about the ingredients for making the patties and broth.
What to know when ordering
Each vermicelli shop has its own secret of patty, broth simmering and spice ratios, so there is no standard of "only right taste". This vermicelli dish follows the people of Central Vietnam who came to the island around 1955, starting with rustic shrimp noodles and gradually perfecting with local seafood and spices. Even the name "quay" has many interesting explanations from the people themselves.
Before eating or buying
- A full bowl of vermicelli can include fish cakes, shrimp cakes, and fresh squid; confirm the ingredients when ordering.
- Taste the dipping cup slowly to avoid making the dipping sauce too salty or too spicy.
- In case of severe seafood allergy, it is necessary to notify in advance so that the kitchen notes the cooking utensils and broth separately.
- Ask for a specific portion size if you intend to order additional side dishes.
