Fairy Well

The Tien well is actually a small geyser of water leaking from a rock crevice in the Ong Doi Cape area, where local people for many generations have been passionately passing on anecdotes about Lord Nguyen Anh sticking his sword into the rock to find a source of fresh water. The underground geyser is a real landmark; but slashed sword marks or fantastical details, tinged with fairy tales, are pieces of the treasure of folk tales, and they should be introduced in the spirit of that dream.

Located in the Mui Ong Doi area, access to Gieng Tien may be a bit of a barrier due to changes in the management of the surrounding resorts. If you wish to go to the city, you should check in advance which public trails are still allowed to circulate. Once you have arrived, admire and take photos in a gentle and delicate way; absolutely do not intentionally physically impact the natural water or damage the rocky landscape around the mouth of the well.

Understanding the story in context

The people who cling to this land still keep the story of Lord Nguyen Anh looking for refreshments for the rebels and the sharp slash marks on the rock. It is a ribbon of legends tightly tied to the collective memory of the indigenous people, but absolutely not the details that have been confirmed by historians to confirm the archaeological evidence. You have the right to be fascinated by that historical story, but when telling it, be clear about the boundaries of which is a real geographical place and which are the clouds of folklore.
