Watching sunrise
For sunrise, choose an east-facing viewpoint such as the Ham Ninh area. Some mornings bring a clear horizon and others only diffuse light behind cloud, but getting up early also lets you see the fishing community beginning its day - a very different atmosphere from a midday visit.

How to schedule?
Choose a place with a clear and legitimate access route, then work out the drive while the roads are still dark. Check sunrise time, cloud cover and weather close to the day. If you plan to eat afterwards, find out which nearby places actually open early. At working waterfronts, do not block boat lanes or local access simply to get a photograph.
What may be different
Not every sunrise appears as a perfect red disc rising from the water. On cloudier mornings the light may simply spread gradually across the sky. Both are normal parts of an island morning. A dramatic photograph is never more important than keeping clear of working boats and respecting the people using the waterfront.
Before the trip
- Check sunrise time and low-cloud conditions for the exact area.
- Carry a small light if you need to walk to the viewpoint before dawn.
- Stay clear of boat channels, mooring areas and residential access routes.
- Check which breakfast places nearby actually open early.
