Duong Dong estuary: where fishing boats come and go
The Duong Dong estuary is a working gateway where fishing boats leave and return in the centre of town. Tide, weather and harbour schedules change the scene from hour to hour.
From the riverbank, the estuary can appear crowded with boats one moment and quiet the next. Water level, weather and each vessel's timetable shape this daily pulse, where fresh water meets the sea and many local livelihoods converge.

The water changes, the wharf is still working
Heavy rains can cloudy the river, while the tide diligently regulates the water level up and down every day. Boat owners must skillfully guard the channel and the right time to enter and exit, so even though the water seems calm, this is still not a safe place for visitors to swim on their own. If you want to enjoy the scenery, you just need to choose a safe corner in a public area, pay attention to the slippery edges of the wharf and observe the rhythm of boats passing by.
As soon as the boat lands, the fishing wharf immediately bursts into bustle: the person passing the fish, the person transferring the cold ice, the person tying the anchor line or hurriedly preparing for the next trip. On the dock, the mooring line can squeeze across the aisle, the floor is slippery, and the cart is constantly going back and forth. Standing at a sufficient distance, you can still capture this livelihood in plain sight; but if you want to photograph the workers, politely ask for permission and be careful not to obstruct their delivery aisles.
View of the estuary from the shore
The mouth of the Duong Dong River has days when the boats are constantly busy, but there are also days when the wharf is more busy because of the weather and the changing schedule of the sea. Instead of trying to crowd close to the water's edge to take pictures, choosing a safe location on the shore, leisurely watching the boats winding with the water flow will help you feel the rhythm of life here more clearly and peacefully. Chatting with fish sellers or water bar owners around the wharf, asking about the return time is also an interesting way for you to understand more about the soul of this fishing wharf.
