Suoi Tranh
Suoi Tranh is a gentle forest walk whose appearance changes strongly with the water season. In wetter periods the stream and waterfall are fuller but rocks can become very slippery; in dry periods there may be far less water and more exposed roots and stone.

How to visit
Allow roughly one to three hours depending on which trail sections are open and how long you stop. Shoes with good grip matter, especially after rain. After a long dry spell, do not expect the full waterfall shown in wet-season photographs. After very heavy rain, ask about flow and trail conditions before entering.
Check the season before the photograph
Suoi Tranh is close enough to central areas to fit into many half-day itineraries, but promotional images are usually taken when vegetation is green, water is flowing and light is favourable.
Open Phu Quoc does not use a full-flow photograph as a promise of what you will see. Decide whether your aim is a forest walk, scenery, a picnic or swimming, because each needs different conditions.
Know before you go
Suoi Tranh can feel like two different places in wet and dry periods. More water makes the stream more dramatic but also turns rocks and steps into slippery surfaces. A drier visit may be quieter and expose more of the rock and root structure. Stay on open paths and turn back if conditions deteriorate.
After rain can be prettier - and more slippery
Higher flow improves the scenery but also increases risk. Prolonged heavy rain can make water muddy, strengthen the current or close some sections.
The best condition is not simply “more rain”. Moderate recent rain followed by clearer weather can offer enough water without making the route unnecessarily dangerous.
Before you visit
- Check recent rainfall and ask whether any trail sections are affected by high water or erosion.
- Wear footwear with strong grip; smooth flip-flops are a poor choice for wet rock.
- Do not enter fast-flowing water or cross warning barriers.
- Use proper waste bins and keep the group together on quieter forest sections.
