Phu Quoc before the international airport
Before today's Phu Quoc International Airport opened south of Duong Dong, flights used the old airport close to the town centre. Moving aviation to the new site changed the island's travel patterns, airport-to-hotel distances and the way land around the former airport could be used.

Looking at the island today
Today's international airport is south of Duong Dong, so travel towards An Thoi, the centre or northern Phu Quoc should be timed from your actual accommodation address. Do not use memories of the old airport location to estimate present-day transfers. Major road and visitor flows have shifted around the newer airport.
Read materials at the right time
The international airport was not simply a newer terminal replacing an older building. Its location changed the direction of visitor movement and influenced how different parts of the island connect and develop. Capacity figures in old planning documents are projections from a particular time and should not be treated as a direct description of current flight volume or actual passenger traffic.
If you want to see it in person
- Check the airport address shown on your ticket and save the correct location on your map.
- Estimate the transfer from the current airport to your hotel using the actual landing time and address.
- If you want to look for traces of the former airport, verify the present access and location first because the surrounding urban area has changed substantially.
